Metric System

Celsius can be converted to Fahrenheit quickly by doubling the Celsius number and adding 30 (i.e. 30 ° C x 2 = 60 + 30 = approximately 90 ° F ).  Sorry, this doesn't work for negative numbers but this one does ( ° C x 1.8) + 32 = ° F

If you want an exact conversion, use ( ° F - 32) x 5/9 = ° C

Boiling point is 212 ° F vs. 100 ° C

Freezing is -32 ° F vs. 0 ° C

Room temperature is 70 ° F vs. 20 ° C

Body temperature is 98.6 ° F vs. 37 ° C

Mr. Fahrenheit, at that time, was the only glass blower that could blow a symmetrical, thin cylinder (thermometer) to record temperatures.  He set -32 ° F as his starting point because it was the lowest temperature he could record with his device
