English Language

The American version of English is different than the British version used in Canada so words like cheque, labour, harbour, centre, litre become check, labor, harbor, center and liter.  That is why your computer's spell checker may highlight these words as misspelled.

Look at these cultural differences in the way Canadians use the English language vs. Americans: 

Some reasons why the English language is so hard to learn:

	The bandage was wound around the wound.
	The farm was used to produce produce.
	The dump was full so it had to refuse more refuse.
	We must polish the Polish statue.
	To lead, you have to get the lead out.
	Desert your dessert in the desert.
	There is no time like the present to present your present.
	Paint a bass on your bass drum.
	The dove dove into the bushes.
	Don't object to that object.
	The insurance was invalid for the invalid
	There was a row between those who had to row
	You are close to the door so close it
	The sewer of seeds fell into the sewer hole
	The sow was able to help the farmer sow
	The wind was too strong to wind the sail
	After seeing the tear in the cloth, I shed a tear
	A number of injections caused my gums to get number
	Please subject the subject to the tests now
	Can I intimate this to my most intimate friend?
