Myth - The withholding tax can be paid from outside the RRSP/RRIF/LIRA

Often, an RRSP/RRIF/LIRA may contain nothing but investments that you may not want to sell.  As a result, you may want to keep all the investments intact and pay the withholding tax by a separate check so that nothing has to be sold. Unfortunately, the withholding (hence the term) MUST come from within the RRSP/RRIF/LIRA account.
